This medicine contains the active ingredient colchicine, which belongs to a group of medicines called anti-gout agents. This medicine is prescribed for the treatment of gout attacks which are characterized by swelling, inflammation and ache in the joints. The reduction of the number of white blood cells caused by colchicine helps with these symptoms. You may also be prescribed colchicine to prevent inflammation if you are taking some medicines that can cause it.
